Access

There are two international airports in Taiwan:

  1. Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TPE)
    The Taipei TTY Airport is the main gateway of Taiwan. It can be accessed via over 190 non-stop and direct flights from 56 major cities throughout the world.

  2. Taipei Songshan Airport (TSA)
    Situated in Metropolitan Taipei, the Taipei International Airport is the hub of domestic air transportation. It is easily accessible from the town centers.

Arrival at the International Airport

Quarantine

  • It is required to go through the following steps in order to enter Taiwan:“Please make sure you have a valid visa to enter Taiwan”
  • Taiwan conducts onboard quarantine inspections after H1N1 novel influenza. All passengers will be walking through a fever screening station in order to measure passengers' body temperature for quarantine inspections by remote sensing.
  • Disembarkation cards are required for non-citizens entering Taiwan. The cards will be either given by flight attendants or acquired at the counters close to passport checking booths of immigration entrance.


Transport between Taiwan Taoyuan (TTY) International Airport and Taipei

Taxis queue outside the Arrival Halls of both terminals. Airport Taxis charge according to the meter plus a 50% surcharge (highway tolls not included). Typical fare to Taipei is around NT$1,800.

Four bus companies now provide frequent service between TTY International Airport and important destinations around Taipei everyday in every about 30 to 40 minutes. Costs are approximately NT$180-200, takes about 60 to 90 minutes. The bus station is on the southwest side of the Arrival Passenger Reception Area in Terminal I, and on the northeast side of the Arrival Passenger Reception Area on the first floor in Terminal II.

Taoyuan Airport MRT Line serves as the extension to the national gate –Taoyuan International Airport. Passengers can enjoy a different visual experience during the ride from the diverse sceneries, landscapes, and stations along the line.

Transport in Taipei

Mass Rapid Transit System (MRTS)
The system operates according to a spoke-hub distribution paradigm, with six lines running radially outward from central Taipei. The metro system operates from 6 AM to midnight daily with extended services during special events. Trains operate at intervals of 1.5 to 15 minutes depending on the line and time of day. A “Single-journey Ticket” costs between NT$20 to NT$65 depending on distance. A NT$200 One-day Pass purchased from a service booth will allow unlimited travel among all MRT lines within one day. Transport to Chinese Petroleum Corporation Building (CPC)

There are several ways participants can reach the CPC Corporation Taipei Building from Taoyuan International Airport, such as the airport buses or Taoyuan airport MRT. Participants are suggested to take the Taoyuan Airport MRT from Airport terminal Station to the Taipei Main Station. Upon arrival at the Taipei Main Station, please take the MRT Bannan Line (Blue Line) to the Taipei City Hall Station. It takes about 6 minutes from Taipei City Hall Station to CPC by walk.
